Astrove's AI chatbot is built to relieve exactly this first-line administration, 24/7. Appointment booking via national e-ID schemes (such as BankID, MitID or itsme), connected to your patient record system, is the biggest time saver. The patient authenticates, picks an appointment type, sees available slots and confirms — all within the conversation. Confirmation by SMS and a reminder 24 hours before.
Prescription renewal is another high-volume flow we automate. For repeat medication (blood pressure medication, heart medication, diabetes medication, contraceptives) the patient can initiate a renewal in the conversation. The bot collects the necessary details (which medication, dose, how many months), routes the request to the doctor for approval, and the prescription is issued through your electronic prescription service once approved. New or changed medication always requires a consultation — the bot cannot handle medical assessments.
In healthcare, compliance is critical. Medical confidentiality rules, patient record legislation and GDPR Article 9 on special categories of personal data set strict requirements. We provide a specially adapted data processing agreement that covers all of them. All customer data is stored tenant-isolated in the EU (Germany), encrypted in transit and at rest, and never used for model training. A redaction policy automatically masks ID numbers, diagnoses and other sensitive details. Yes, with secure authentication via national e-ID schemes (such as BankID, MitID or itsme). The patient logs in, picks an appointment type (standard consultation, dermatologist, gynaecologist, urgent), sees available slots in your calendar and confirms directly. We integrate with your patient record system. The patient gets an SMS confirmation and a reminder 24 hours before.
What about prescription renewals?+
For repeat medication (renewal without a consultation) the bot can initiate the process: the patient states which medication, the bot routes the request to the doctor for approval, and the approved prescription is issued through your electronic prescription service. New or changed medication always requires a consultation — the bot never handles medical assessments.
What about test results and health data?+
For authenticated patients the bot can give the status of test results ("has my sample arrived?"), but it never interprets results — interpretation requires a doctor. For sensitive health data we apply a particularly strict redaction policy and audit logging; healthcare confidentiality rules, patient record legislation and GDPR Article 9 set strict requirements.
What about urgent symptoms?+
The bot never gives medical advice on symptoms or urgency. It consistently refers patients to the emergency number (112), your local out-of-hours medical service, or the front desk for appointment requests. This is deliberate and built in — the risk of misinformation in medical questions is too high.
What does it cost for a mid-sized practice?+
The chatbot module is €0/month — you pay only for the AI usage that actually happens, typically a few cents per patient conversation, on prepaid credit. Standard setup via Google Tag Manager is free.
